MonsterAdapter LA-FZ1 Lens Adapter: F-mount to Z-mount

On September 11, 2025, we began shipping the first MonsterAdapter LA-FZ1 units.

The MonsterAdapter LA-FZ1 lens adapter is the first lens adapter to allow Nikon F-mount AF Nikkor series CPU lenses and select third-party lenses to be used on Nikon Z-mount cameras. The LA-FZ1 is the logical evolution of the highly popular MonsterAdapter LA-FE2. Both lens adapters allow the use of lenses with so-called screw-drive autofocus mechanisms.

Retro design for greater harmony

Visually, the LA-FZ1 lens adapter features retro design elements, ensuring that when used with AF-series lenses, the design complements Z-mount cameras.

Firmware version 1.2 is available.

A new firmware update for MonsterAdapter was released on January 27, 2026. This update primarily resolved an issue with aperture control. No new lenses were added to the compatibility list. 

We ask all customers who own an LA-FZ1 to install the update. The file can be downloaded either directly from MonsterAdapter or from our website at the following link: Download page

Firmware version 1.1 causes compatibility issues.

Since we started selling the MonsterAdapter LA-FZ1, customers have reported a wide variety of issues with lenses. In some cases, the autofocus works poorly or not at all, even though the lenses are listed in MonsterAdapter's compatibility list.

The lenses in question are as follows:

• AF Nikkor 180 mm f/2.8 D IF-ED
• AF Micro-Nikkor 200 mm f/4D IF-ED
• AF Nikkor 300 mm f/2.8 IF-ED

We have informed MonsterAdapter of all customer feedback. We are doing everything we can to ensure that MonsterAdapter provides us with the necessary firmware updates as soon as possible to resolve the known issues.

Compatibility list for lenses with firmware version 1.0:

Lenses or accessories not supported:

• F-mount lenses without CPU contacts
• AF 80mm f/2.8, AF 200mm f/3.5, and TC-16A teleconverter, designed specifically for the F3AF camera. Although these three products have CPU contacts, they are not compatible with the LA-FZ1.
